Minn Kota
In 1934, the trolling motor was invented by O.G. Schmidt in Fargo, North Dakota. He used a starter motor from a Ford Model A, added a shaft and propeller. He named his new company Minn Kota for Fargo's location on the North Dakota/Minn Kota border. For more than 80 years, fishermen have relied on Minn Kota for cutting edge, tough-as-nails trolling motors.
