Under Armour Charged Shoreman Deck Boots

First Impression
In the foul-weather deck boot category there's stiff competition from industry leaders, like Aftco, Simms, and XtraTuf, but Under Armour made a BIG splash at the 2024 ICAST Best of Show Winner with their Charged Shoreman deck boots and a first-place win for the Best New Footwear. Visually, the Shoreman stands out from the traditional brown XtraTuf boots, and with its sleek and modern ankle-cut design, many of us are hoping it’ll be more breathable than other deck boots we’ve tried before.
After trying them on for the first time, most of us felt the fit was true to size, thanks to a roomy toe box that even accommodated our reviewers with wide feet. In hand, the craftsmanship of the Shoreman deck boots feels solid, and some of us noted that the soles of the boot have a bit of flexibility and what feels like plenty of cushion to stand on for long hours on the water. With a fit marketed as “equivalent to your favorite UA athletic shoes,” the review group is excited to see if the Shoreman boots offer more of a running-shoe-style fit instead of the added bulk you might expect from your average pair of deck boots.
- Extremely lightweight build
- Waterproof
- Fit is true to size
- Midsole cushion and ankle pads provide all-day comfort
- Easy on-and-off with pull loops on the front and back
- Flat-bottom outsole lacks traction on a wet boat dock
- Insole and ankle pads require a short break-in period
Final Verdict
Breakdown
Performance: 8.2
In terms of raw performance, all the reviewers agreed the Charged Shoreman boots are the most lightweight and comfortable deck boots currently available on the market due to the responsiveness and cushioning adopted from Under Armour’s athletic shoe technology. These boots come on and off easily with double pull-tab loops, while the midsole and ankle padding make them easy to wear throughout an entire day of fishing by locking your heel in place to reduce slippage when walking.

Traditional deck boots tend to cook your feet and make them extra sweaty, but we didn’t experience this with the Shoreman, even on warmer days during the fall when temperatures exceeded 60 degrees. We wouldn’t call these boots extremely breathable, but the low-cut ankle design makes them less humid than other boots we’ve worn while still preventing water intrusion with plenty of coverage for your foul-weather bibs to fit over the boot.

The Tri-Base sole technology adopted from the UA’s Trainer series of shoes is designed to maximize traction and slip-resistance on wet surfaces like damp docks and boat decks, but we had mixed reviews of its effectiveness. Some reviewers felt the flat-bottom outsole design provided excellent footing and grip on wet boat carpet, while others thought the boots might benefit from some added tread when walking across slippery boat docks.
"The comfort level is pretty elevated. As a big guy, I have to be choosy about footwear or my back will be torched, and after a full day of fishing, I didn't experience any back-related fatigue or pain."
Durability: 8.4
During the test period, our team reported no damage or excessive wear while putting these boots through their paces over a five-month stretch filled with cold and rainy weather on the Central Coast of California. While we’re still in the process of putting these boots through the rigors of a full season of fishing, every reviewer felt confident the UA Charged Shoreman boots displayed exceptional durability that would perform well over multiple years. The waterproof laminated seals adequately prevent moisture intrusion, while the molded PU toe cap provides increased structure, durability, and toe protection.

Value: 8.5
At $114.95, the Under Armour Shoreman boots are priced beneath the Simms Deck Boot ($129.95) and Grundens Deck Boot ($129.99), but slightly more than the Huk Rogue Wave Boot ($100 to $110) or FXR Vapor Pro Boot ($99). Most of the deck boots in the bass fishing category are offered in a tight range between $100 and $130, so the pricing seems fair based on comparable options. With tons of positive comments regarding the UA Charged Shoreman’s performance features, we’re confident they’ll bring value to any angler looking for a functional, stylish, and comfortable pair of deck boots.
"I would definitely buy these boots again, even at a full retail price. The extremely lightweight construction is a truly awesome feature that I haven't seen in other deck boots that are currently on the market."
Utility: 7.4
While these boots are easy to wear throughout a full day of fishing, the utility of the UA Shoreman is best suited for rainy weather and bass boat carpet, with the occasional adventure on your local saltwater sportfishing boat. The low-cut ankle provides added ventilation that makes them slightly more versatile for warm and wet conditions, but like all rubberized water-repellent boots, they offer limited breathability. As rain boots built to protect your feet from water, the UA Shoreman is not intended to be worn every day, so you would expect to sacrifice some breathability for water protection and avoid wearing them during hot or dry fishing days. At a boat ramp, these boots also provide just enough coverage to allow you to enter the water to operate the trailer winch or hop out of the boat to get in the driver’s seat when launching solo.

Final Thoughts
We enjoyed our time testing the Under Armour Charged Shoreman deck boots, as the extremely lightweight build gives them an athletic fit that simply makes them easier to get around in. Met with tons of positive feedback, the only drawback some could point to is how the flat soles don’t provide great traction on slippery boat docks. At the same time, one reviewer praised the outsole design for better footing on wet boat carpets, citing how the heavy tread of his previous boots caused damage to his boat carpet.
The two-tone grey we tested is not too flashy and is a great universal color that pairs well with a wide spectrum of rain gear, and moving forward you can expect more color combinations from Under Armour stocked at TW in the future. In conclusion, we recommend the UA Charged Shoreman deck boots to any angler looking for a stylish, comfortable, and waterproof deck boot, and we encourage anglers to take a closer look at the performance fishing apparel designs from Under Armour.
"Under Armour has never really been on my radar, but these boots are comparable in quality with brands like XtraTuf and Simms. They're comfortable to fish and walk around in all day. At times I forgot I was even testing them. There's nothing I would change, which is rare for me. Go Under Armour!"
