Frogs TW Fall Staff Picks

Along the West Coast, our fall tends to be milder than the rest of the country, which means our aquatic vegetation hangs around a little bit longer. This leaves the door open to a frog bite pretty much year-round, minus the heart of winter. However, if you're able to identify the right conditions, the fall can setup well for a frog bite no matter where you're fishing.

After the summer, bait will seek refuge in whatever vegetation is left, even if it doesn't look like prime real estate. This means you might have to cover large swaths of unproductive water until you find the right area, but rest assured, if you can find that bait, the bass won't be far. Tackle Warehouse Staffer, Jeff, has proven this theory numerous times in the fall and notes that weather conditions play a big role in the bait's effectiveness.

"As far as conditions go, I prefer the weather to be calm. I have never really felt confident about getting bites in the wind on a frog. The later into the fall I throw a frog, the more I will be focused on overhangs, tules, and isolated cover." - Jeff, TW Staff
